Buying the 2021 Toyota Corolla SE

No 2021 Toyota Corolla SE is for sale by CarmaCars at the moment; this page helps you judge the car before you buy one elsewhere. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can cover the time while you arrange financing with your bank. For anyone shopping for the 2021 Toyota Corolla SE, here are the facts that matter.

Recalls and complaints

Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose is money well spent. There are 1 NHTSA recall campaigns on file; a dealer can check by the VIN whether each was done. A private seller in Ontario must give you a Used Vehicle Information Package.

What the specs mean

Its 2.0L 4-cylinder drives through a 10-speed automatic. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

For 300 km of mixed driving, expect about 20 litres, from its 6.6 L/100 km rating. A weekend of 300 km comes to about $30.69 at our price setting. At US fuel prices, the EPA estimates US$1,900 a year for 15,000 miles.

Room inside

It is a straightforward car to drive, park and live with. Luggage space is rated at 510 litres: a family's bags for a long weekend.

A good match for

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.

Try before you buy

Nothing is charged until we confirm the rental and you approve the offer. A week with the Corolla answers more than any brochure. Try the Corolla on your commute, then decide.

Running costs

Tires, brakes and batteries are the regular costs to budget for beyond fuel. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.23 in fuel. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $102.30 at our price setting.

Choosing the right one

Compare the SE with the other trims of the same year before you decide. A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it. Set a budget that includes tax, licensing, insurance and the first set of tires.

Still deciding?

Rent it for a week, then decide: send a request with your dates.
