The Q7 and Java

Selby, Lowry and Sitka are the closest places to Java on our list.

Specs, explained

The engine is the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo, with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

A combined rating of 10.8 L/100 km works out to about 32 litres per 300 km. For 1,000 km, budget about $189 at our price setting.

The Q7 in everyday use

Its SUV body gives a high seating position and an easy load height.

A good match for

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. Its all-wheel drive suits winter roads and trips to ski country.

Getting this car from us

This exact car is not in our fleet at the moment; a request asks us to look for one. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. Want a car for specific dates? Put them in the request and we check. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.

From your dates to the handover

You start by asking: a car, a start time, an end time. Asking is free. The reply is an offer you can read in full before you decide anything. If it suits you, approve it and pay. Until then, nothing is charged.

Prices on each car's page are before tax, and the offer adds the tax. Book one day, one week, or up to 365 days at once. The minimum notice is 2 hours, so an afternoon pickup can be requested in the morning.

What to bring

Our minimum age is 18; an Ontario G2 or G licence is required. The daily young driver fee is shown on each car's page, for drivers under 26. Cars marked "no credit card needed" accept a debit card in your name; the others need a credit card.

For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit applies to every rental. It is shown on the car's page and taken about 1 hour before pickup. Everyone who will drive signs the agreement after the licence check.
