The 1500 and Java

Selby, Lowry and Sitka are the neighbouring places on our list.

What the figures tell you

The engine is the 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo, with rear-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic. It runs on diesel, sold at most highway stations. Rear-wheel drive gives balanced handling; in winter, the tires make the biggest difference.

Its combined rating is 9.0 L/100 km, which means roughly 27 litres for 300 km. Expect about $13.95 per 100 km at our price setting.

Best uses

It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while.

Living with the 1500

As a pickup truck, it has an open bed for things that would never fit in a trunk.

Can I rent it?

This exact car is not in our fleet at the moment; a request asks us to look for one. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Put this car and your dates in a request, and we reply with an offer. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.

Requirements

From age 18, with an Ontario G2 or G licence, you can send a request. If any driver is under 26, a young driver fee is added for each day. The card must be in the driver's name, and we check it with the licence in person.

You pick how damage to the car is handled before pickup: OPCF 27, a credit card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit is held for every rental, about 1 hour before you get the car. We check your licence and identity before we confirm, the same way for every renter.

Getting the car booked

Nothing to pay up front: the first step is simply a request. If the car is free, you get an offer with the full price; if not, we suggest another car. Nothing is charged until you approve it and pay.

Every car lists its own deposit and the kilometres included each day. Bookings run from one day up to 365 days at a time. The shortest notice we accept before a pickup is 2 hours.
