What the figures tell you

It is powered by the 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

For 300 km of mixed driving, expect about 23 litres, from its 7.8 L/100 km rating. The fuel for 100 km comes to about $12.09 at our price setting.

Who the Escape suits

It suits winter trips and weekends with more gear than people. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.

How big it is

Being a compact SUV, it handles luggage, strollers and sports gear well.
