Car subscription: the 2017 Ford Explorer
Car subscription and the 2017 Ford Explorer: the figures first, then how to rent it from CarmaCars. There is no long contract: stop at the end of any booking. One booking runs up to 365 days and renews with a new agreement.
What the specs mean
The powertrain to know here is the 2.3L 4-cylinder turbo, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.
It is rated 10.8 L/100 km combined: about 32 litres every 300 km. At our price setting, it costs about $16.74 to drive 100 km.
Size and space
An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length.
Who rents the Explorer
It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one.

From your dates to the handover
Booking starts online: pick the car, set the times, and send the request at no cost. You get an offer that says exactly what the rental costs before tax. You have 24 hours to approve an offer, and payment comes with your approval.
Each listing shows the daily, weekly and monthly rate of that car. Bookings run from one day up to 365 days at a time. Same-day requests are fine with at least 2 hours of notice, when the car is free.
What we check
We rent to drivers aged 18 and up who hold an Ontario G2 or G licence. Young drivers are welcome: a daily fee applies under 26. A card in the driver's own name is required at the handover.
Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is never taken when you book; it comes about 1 hour before pickup. Before confirming, we verify the licence and identity of each driver.
