Car subscription and the Merkur
Searching for car subscription? Here is the Merkur: what it is like and how to rent it. One booking runs up to 365 days and renews with a new agreement. There is no long contract: stop at the end of any booking.
What the specs mean
No fuel-use rating is published for this model year, so we leave those figures out.
Who it is for
It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.
Rent it from us
No Merkur is in our fleet today; ask for one in a request and we search for your dates. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. Name the Merkur model you want in your request, and the offer confirms what we can give you. Delivery is priced by distance in your offer, and pickup from us is free.
What you need to rent
Our minimum age is 18; an Ontario G2 or G licence is required. There is no upper age limit, and drivers under 26 pay a fee for each day. Bring the card in your name that paid for the booking.
Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is released after the return, once the car is checked. Name every driver in your request, and each is checked before pickup.
How renting with us works
To get started, send a request for the car and dates. You are not charged for it. Someone on our team confirms the car is free for those dates and sends you an offer with every charge listed. The car is yours for those dates once you approve and pay the offer.
Each car page lists what is included and what costs extra. A rental of 7 days or longer is priced at the weekly rate. Leave at least 2 hours between your request and the pickup.
Ready when you are
Not sure which car? Describe the trip in your request and we will suggest one.

Can I rent a Merkur in Toronto?
Not from our fleet right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile 6 similar cars are available below.
How old do I need to be to rent?
18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Drivers aged 18 to 20 pay a young driver fee of $35 a day, and 21 to 25 pay $20 a day.
How much is the deposit?
Between $500 and $5,000, depending on the car. It is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book, and the balance is released within 7 business days after you return the car.
What coverage do I need?
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer by car and driver age. At $2,500 or more we claim on our fleet policy and you pay the $2,500 deductible.
Can the car be delivered?
Yes, anywhere, including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Delivery starts at $75 plus the distance from our location, priced in your offer. Collecting the car yourself is free.
