If a car by the month is the plan, the Polestar is worth a look; here is why. One booking runs up to 365 days and renews with a new agreement. There is no long contract: stop at the end of any booking.

What the specs mean

The EPA does not rate this model year for fuel use; heavier trucks and vans are often not rated.

Who can rent

Every driver needs an Ontario G2 or G licence and must be 18 or older. Under 26? You can rent, with a daily young driver fee shown on the car's page. Bring the card you paid with and your original licence to the handover.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit comes about 1 hour before you get the car, not at booking. Additional drivers can be added; each one meets the same rules and signs the agreement.

From request to keys

The first step is a free request: which car, which dates, and how you want to get it. You receive an offer with the price, the deposit and what is included. Offers stay open for 24 hours. Approve one and pay to book the car.

The car pages show each car's rates, deposit and kilometres included. Stay as long as you need: up to 365 days a booking, then renew. Give us 2 hours or more before the pickup and we can usually make it work.
