Engine and fuel

The 6.7L 12-cylinder with rear-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. It calls for premium gas, which costs more a litre than regular. Rear-wheel drive gives balanced handling; in winter, the tires make the biggest difference.

By the EPA's combined rating of 17.3 L/100 km, 300 km takes about 52 litres. For 1,000 km, budget about $302.80 at our price setting.

The Phantom in everyday use

As a compact car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. Luggage space is 396 litres, enough for about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Who it is for

It uses more fuel than most, so it suits shorter trips or people who need its size. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while.

In our fleet

Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.

Driver requirements

The minimum age is 18, and the licence must be an Ontario G2 or G, valid for the whole trip. If you are under 26, expect a young driver fee each day; there is no upper age limit. The card must be in the driver's name, and we check it with the licence in person.

The CarmaCars Protection Plan is one of three options for damage to the car; the others are OPCF 27 on your policy or a card with rental car benefits. A deposit applies to every rental. It is shown on the car's page and taken about 1 hour before pickup. Additional drivers can be added; each one meets the same rules and signs the agreement.

Booking in plain terms

A short online request with the car and your times gets things moving, at no cost. We check the calendar and your details, then send you an offer with the total. Your card is charged only when you approve the offer.

Each car shows its rate for a day, a weekend day, a week and a month. Weekly pricing starts at 7 days, and a trip never costs more than that rate for a week. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.
