Renting: the basics

An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more are the starting point. If you are under 26, expect a young driver fee each day; there is no upper age limit. Bring the card you paid with and your original licence to the handover.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Your deposit is held about 1 hour ahead of pickup and released after the return. Every renter goes through the same check of licence and identity before the car is confirmed.

From request to keys

To get started, send a request for the car and dates. You are not charged for it. A person checks the request and sends you an offer with the full price. You pay when you approve, and only then.

Prices on each car's page are before tax, and the offer adds the tax. Weekly pricing starts at 7 days, and a trip never costs more than that rate for a week. Short notice is fine: 2 hours is the minimum before a pickup.
