The electric motor with all-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. Being electric, it is quiet and quick from a stop, and it charges at home, at work or at public chargers. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

Its rating is 18.6 kWh/100 km: about 56 kWh for 300 km. Its rated range is 507 km on a full charge; real range drops in cold weather and at highway speeds. A 300 km round trip costs roughly $8.37 at our price setting.

Space and size

Being a mid-size car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. EPA lists 425 litres of luggage space, enough for a family's bags for a long weekend.

It suits client visits, weddings and special weekends. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.

Rules for renters

Drivers from 18 up, with an Ontario G2 or G licence, are welcome. No maximum age, and a daily fee only for drivers under 26. The card must be in the driver's name, and we check it with the licence in person.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. There is a deposit for each rental, taken shortly before pickup rather than at booking. We verify licences and identity for every renter, with no exceptions.

From your dates to the handover

The process opens with a request from you, which costs nothing and binds you to nothing. We confirm the details and send an offer. It lists the rental, any delivery and any add-ons. Approve it and the car is booked; decline it and nothing happens.

Each car shows its own extra kilometre rate, so nothing surprises you later. A rental of 7 days or longer is priced at the weekly rate. Same-day requests are fine with at least 2 hours of notice, when the car is free.
