Certified Pre-Owned: the 2021 Hyundai Tucson Preferred

CarmaCars is a rental company and does not have the 2021 Hyundai Tucson Preferred for sale right now. Rent one for a week first, or ask us to look for one. Here is what to know about the 2021 Hyundai Tucson Preferred before buying one.

What to check on the Tucson

Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose is money well spent. Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace. Ask the seller for the service records of this exact car.

    Engine and fuel

The engine is the 2.0L 4-cylinder, with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

The combined figure, 9.5 L/100 km, means roughly 29 litres for 300 km. In energy, every 100 km costs about $14.73 at our price setting. At US fuel prices, the EPA estimates US$2,700 a year for 15,000 miles.

    Room inside

An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length.

    When the Tucson makes sense

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one.

Rent it for a week first

Nothing is charged until we confirm the rental and you approve the offer. Rent the Tucson for a week and see how it fits your life. A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel.

    Money matters

The EPA estimates US$2,700 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models.

Picking a year and a trim

Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay. Compare the Preferred with the other trims of the same year before you decide. If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first.
