The A4 and Downs

What the specs mean

It runs the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid, with all-wheel drive. It is a hybrid: the battery charges itself as you drive and brake, so there is nothing to plug in. All-wheel drive sends power to all four wheels, which helps on snow and wet roads; good tires still matter most.

It is rated at 8.3 L/100 km combined; 300 km takes about 25 litres. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $12.87, and a 300 km weekend about $38.61.

How big it is

A car body like this keeps the weight low, so it feels settled on the highway. Luggage space is rated at 340 litres: about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Best uses

It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.

Can I rent it?

Ask for your dates, and we reply with what we can offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Delivery and pickup are both options across the Toronto area.

Before pickup

The minimum age is 18, and the licence must be an Ontario G2 or G, valid for the whole trip. No maximum age, and a daily fee only for drivers under 26. Bring a card in your name; a card in someone else's name cannot be used.

If your own policy has OPCF 27 or your card covers rental cars, use that; otherwise add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Expect a deposit before every rental; its amount is set by the car. Licence and identity checks happen before the booking is confirmed.

From your dates to the handover

First, a request: the car you like, when you need it, and where. No payment yet. We reply with an offer for the car and the dates, priced in full. You pay only once you approve the offer.

Each listing shows the daily, weekly and monthly rate of that car. Longer trips cost less a day: the weekly rate starts at 7 days. A pickup can be as soon as 2 hours after your request, when the car is free.
