Engine and fuel

It uses the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid and all-wheel drive. As a hybrid, it does best in stop-and-go traffic, where the electric motor does more of the work. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

It is rated 8.3 L/100 km combined: about 25 litres every 300 km. In money, 1,000 km costs about $128.70 at our price setting.

Is it right for your trip?

It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.

Inside and out

As a compact car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. For luggage, 340 litres means about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Can you rent one?

From request to keys

Requests come first at CarmaCars. You name the car and the dates, and we take it from there. The reply is an offer you can read in full before you decide anything. The booking is confirmed when you approve the offer and pay it.

Open a car to see its photos, rates, deposit and kilometres included. Weekly pricing starts at 7 days, and a trip never costs more than that rate for a week. Allow 2 hours or more between your request and the pickup time.

What to bring

Ontario G2 or G licence holders aged 18 and up can request a car. Age fees stop at 26: younger drivers pay a daily young driver fee. You show your original licence and your card when we hand you the keys.

Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is never taken when you book; it comes about 1 hour before pickup. Each renter is checked the same way, before the booking is confirmed.

One more step

Ask for the car, read the offer, approve it if it suits you.
