About the 2012 Chevrolet Volt

What the specs mean
It is powered by the 1.4L 4-cylinder hybrid, with front-wheel drive. It is a plug-in hybrid: it runs on electricity for a short distance, then on gas like a regular hybrid. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.
It is rated at 6.4 L/100 km combined; 300 km takes about 19 litres. On electricity alone it is rated for about 612 km before the gas engine takes over. The fuel for 100 km comes to about $9.92 at our price setting.
Who it is for
Its low fuel use suits long commutes and high-kilometre weeks. It suits short daily drives on electricity with gas for longer trips.
What the Volt is like
Being a compact car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. Luggage space is 510 litres, enough for a family's bags for a long weekend.
Renting it
A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. There is no exact match in our fleet today. Request it and we search for one, or take a similar car. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Delivery starts at $75 plus distance; collecting the car yourself is free.
What we ask of drivers
From age 18, with an Ontario G2 or G licence, you can send a request. Drivers under 26 pay a young driver fee for each day, shown on each car's page. A card in your name pays for the rental, and we see it with your licence at pickup.
Before pickup, choose how damage to the car is handled: your auto policy (OPCF 27), your credit card's rental benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Your deposit is held about 1 hour ahead of pickup and released after the return. Every renter goes through the same check of licence and identity before the car is confirmed.
How a booking comes together
Requests come first at CarmaCars. You name the car and the dates, and we take it from there. We look at the request and send back an offer with the price for your exact dates. The car is yours for those dates once you approve and pay the offer.
The rates you see on a car's page are the rates in your offer. A single booking can run up to 365 days. For longer, it renews month after month. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.
Questions first?
Ask for the car, read the offer, approve it if it suits you.
