What the figures tell you

Its powertrain is the 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo with rear-wheel drive. It runs on diesel, sold at most highway stations. Rear-wheel drive gives balanced handling; in winter, the tires make the biggest difference.

The combined figure, 9.0 L/100 km, means roughly 27 litres for 300 km. Every 100 km costs about $13.95 in fuel at our price setting.

Who it is for

It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next. It suits moving day, renovation runs and anything that needs an open bed.

Room inside

As a pickup truck, it has an open bed for things that would never fit in a trunk.

What we check

If you are 18 or over and hold an Ontario G2 or G licence, you can rent. Under 26, a young driver fee applies for each day of the rental. Your licence and the card you paid with come with you to the pickup.

You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book. Licence and identity checks happen before the booking is confirmed.

How to book

Pick your car, enter your dates and send the request. That is all you do at first, and it is free. You get an offer that says exactly what the rental costs before tax. Payment happens only after you accept the offer.

Each car shows its rate for a day, a weekend day, a week and a month. Need it longer than 365 days? Renew with a new agreement when the booking ends. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.

One more step

Look through the cars, choose one, and send a request when it suits you.
