Under the hood

Power comes from the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid, driving through a 7-speed automatic. As a hybrid, it does best in stop-and-go traffic, where the electric motor does more of the work. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

A combined rating of 8.3 L/100 km works out to about 25 litres per 300 km. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $12.87, and a 300 km weekend about $38.61.

Best uses

Its all-wheel drive suits winter roads and trips to ski country. It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month.

How booking works

Renting: the basics

Ontario G2 or G licences are accepted, for drivers 18 and older. A young driver fee applies each day for drivers under 26. The card you pay with must be yours, and you bring it to the handover.

Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is never taken when you book; it comes about 1 hour before pickup. The checks are the same for everyone: licence, identity and the agreement.
