Arranging the work for the AT
Searching for emissions test for the 1985 GMC AT? CarmaCars does not do this work itself; we arrange it with a trusted shop. Rules on emissions testing differ by province and state.
Before the shop sees your AT
The shop may ask for the VIN to order the right parts. The shop sets its own price and time after it sees the car. Bring the owner's manual or service records if you have them.
Our part and the shop's part
Tell us when suits you, and whether the car can be driven. We do not set the shop's price or promise a date. We keep you posted until the car is booked in.
Your rental while you wait
Rent by the day while the shop has your car. If the repair runs long, keep the rental longer. Collect the car at our location for free, or have it delivered.
Talking to the shop
If the car must stay overnight, ask where it will be kept. Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour.
Good habits for your car
Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter. Do not ignore a warning light; an early check often costs less than a late repair.
Ready when you are
Start with the car, the job and your location.
Request emissions test
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
