Arranging the work for the DK
CarmaCars does not do mechanical work, but for an emissions test on the 1986 GMC DK we arrange a trusted shop. Rules on emissions testing differ by province and state.
About your DK
The shop sets its own price and time after it sees the car. A photo of the dashboard warning light helps the shop prepare. Note the mileage on the odometer when you send the request.
How the arrangement works
We keep you posted until the car is booked in. Your request goes to a person, who arranges a trusted shop or gives you its name. The shop quotes the job; you approve it before any work.
A car meanwhile
Rent for as long as the job takes, by the day or the week. Keep the rental as long as the repair takes. Delivery starts at $0 plus distance; collecting the car yourself is free.
Good habits for your car
Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring. Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. Follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual, by time or distance.
Getting a clear quote
Ask whether the estimate includes tax and shop supplies. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for.
When you know your dates
Send a request with the car and what it needs, and a person replies within one business day.
Request emissions test
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
