Arranging the work for the FE
CarmaCars does not do mechanical work, but for an emissions test on the 1990 GMC FE we arrange a trusted shop. Rules on emissions testing differ by province and state.
Your FE and the shop
Mention the trim and engine in your request; parts differ between them. Note the mileage on the odometer when you send the request. The shop sets its own price and time after it sees the car.
What to send us
You agree the price with the shop before any work starts. We pass your request to a trusted shop or give you its name. The repair is between you and the shop; the rental is with us.
Stay on the road
We bring the rental to you and collect it afterwards. If the repair runs long, keep the rental longer. Collect the car at our location for free, or have it delivered.
Small things that help
Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. Look at the tire tread before long trips. Keep the fuel tank above a quarter in winter.
Questions to ask the shop
Ask for a written estimate before any work starts. Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it.
Questions first?
Ask, and we tell you plainly what we can arrange.
Request emissions test
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
