Arranging the work for the Forward Control
For an emissions test on the 1986 GMC Forward Control, a trusted shop does the work and CarmaCars arranges it, with a rental if you need one. Rules on emissions testing differ by province and state.
About your Forward Control
The shop sets its own price and time after it sees the car. If you have the service history of your Forward Control, have it ready for the shop. Say whether the car is drivable; it changes how it gets to the shop.
Who does what
Tell us when suits you, and whether the car can be driven. We follow up until the shop has the car booked in. We do not set the shop's price or promise a date.
A rental while you wait
A rental from us keeps you moving while the shop has your car. We bring the rental to you and collect it afterwards. Delivery and pickup are both options across the Toronto area.
Questions to ask the shop
Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it. Ask whether the parts are new, rebuilt or used.
Between shop visits
Clear snow off the whole car, roof included, before you drive. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Check the tire pressure once a month, when the tires are cold.
Ask us
Tell us what is wrong with the car, and we arrange the rest with a trusted shop.
Request emissions test
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
