Arranging the work for the WIM
For an emissions test on the 1986 GMC WIM, CarmaCars arranges a trusted shop and never does the work itself. Emissions tests are required in some provinces and states; a licensed shop does the test.
Your car, your notes
If you have the service history of your WIM, have it ready for the shop. A photo of the dashboard warning light helps the shop prepare. Tell the shop about any warning light or sound you have noticed.
How the arrangement works
We pass your request to a trusted shop or give you its name. Your request goes to a person, who arranges a trusted shop or gives you its name. We do not set the shop's price or promise a date.
Stay on the road
Pick a car that suits your week from our fleet. Rent by the day while the shop has your car. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.
Small things that help
Look at the tire tread before long trips. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter.
A short checklist
Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. Ask for a written estimate before any work starts. If the car must stay overnight, ask where it will be kept.
Still deciding?
A request is free and gets a reply within one business day.
Request emissions test
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
