Java and the Escape

Klinefelter, Ibis and Arrowhead Junction are the neighbouring places on our list.

Engine and fuel

The engine is the 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo, with front-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

Expect about 23 litres for every 300 km, going by its 7.8 L/100 km combined rating. For 1,000 km, budget about $120.90 at our price setting.

Living with the Escape

Being a compact SUV, it handles luggage, strollers and sports gear well.

Who it is for

It suits winter trips and weekends with more gear than people. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while.

Can you rent one?

There is no exact match in our fleet today. Request it and we search for one, or take a similar car. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. Put this car and your dates in a request, and we reply with an offer. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.

Your booking, in three steps

Booking starts online: pick the car, set the times, and send the request at no cost. If the car is free, you get an offer with the full price; if not, we suggest another car. An offer is valid for 24 hours, and you pay only when you approve it.

You can see every car's calendar and rates before you send anything. A booking can be a single day or up to 365 days. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.

Rules for renters

You must be 18 or older and hold a valid Ontario G2 or G licence. Drivers under 26 pay a young driver fee for each day, shown on each car's page. Cars marked "no credit card needed" accept a debit card in your name; the others need a credit card.

Liability to other people is included in every rate. For the car itself, pick your own policy (OPCF 27), a card with rental car benefits, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is taken shortly before pickup, and the balance comes back after the return. Name every driver in your request, and each is checked before pickup.
