About the 2016 BMW i3
Searching for Luup alternative? Here is the 2016 BMW i3: what it is like and how to rent it. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price.
The numbers in plain words
The 0.6L 2-cylinder hybrid, paired with a 1-speed automatic, drives it. It is a plug-in hybrid: it runs on electricity for a short distance, then on gas like a regular hybrid. Rear-wheel drive gives balanced handling; in winter, the tires make the biggest difference.
Its combined rating is 6.0 L/100 km, which means roughly 18 litres for 300 km. On electricity alone it is rated for about 241 km before the gas engine takes over. At our price setting, it costs about $9.30 to drive 100 km.
Who rents the i3
It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.
Practical details
As a small car, it is easy to drive and park in the city. With 425 litres of luggage space by the EPA's measure, it takes a family's bags for a long weekend.
Rent it from us
None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. We hand every car over in person, at your address or at our location.
Before you rent
The minimum age is 18, and the licence must be an Ontario G2 or G, valid for the whole trip. We accept young drivers; those under 26 pay a daily fee. Payment is by a card in your name, shown with your licence at pickup.
Every rate includes third-party liability. The car itself needs one of three options: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit is held for every rental, about 1 hour before you get the car. Every renter goes through the same check of licence and identity before the car is confirmed.
What happens when you ask for a car
Requests are free: choose a car, add your dates, and send it. An offer follows, with the car we confirm and the full price for your dates. Pay when you approve, not a minute before.
Open a car to see its photos, rates, deposit and kilometres included. A rental of 7 days or longer is priced at the weekly rate. With 2 hours of notice or more, a same-day pickup can work when the car is free.
