Luup alternative and the 2016 BYD e6
This 2016 BYD e6 page is written for a rental car: the car first, then renting it from us. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Reading the spec sheet
The electric motor with front-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. It is fully electric: no gas at all, and you return it with the charge it had at pickup. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.
It uses 29.2 kWh per 100 km, so 300 km takes about 88 kWh of charge. Its rated range is 301 km on a full charge; real range drops in cold weather and at highway speeds. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $4.38, and a 300 km weekend about $13.14.
Good uses for the e6
It suits people who want to try an electric car before buying one. It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy.
Inside and out
An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length. The trunk holds 453 litres by the EPA's count: a family's bags for a long weekend.

Checking your details
An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more are the starting point. The daily young driver fee is shown on each car's page, for drivers under 26. Bring the card in your name that paid for the booking.
Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit comes about 1 hour before you get the car, not at booking. Each driver named on the booking signs the rental agreement.
Getting the car booked
First, a request: the car you like, when you need it, and where. No payment yet. A real person reviews your request and sends an offer with the price spelled out. You have 24 hours to approve an offer, and payment comes with your approval.
The photos on a car's page are of that car. From 7 days, the weekly rate applies; up to 365 days, a trip never costs more than the monthly rate. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.
Talk to a person
Request a car, read the offer, and decide. That is the whole process.
