Renting the 1981 Ford Thunderbird
If you need a rental car, the 1981 Ford Thunderbird is one option; this page explains the car and how booking works. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price.
What the figures tell you
The EPA does not rate this model year for fuel use; heavier trucks and vans are often not rated.
Who the Thunderbird suits
It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.
The Thunderbird in everyday use
A car body like this keeps the weight low, so it feels settled on the highway.
Can you rent one?
Want a car for specific dates? Put them in the request and we check. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. We hand every car over in person, at your address or at our location.
What we check
An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. If you are under 26, expect a young driver fee each day; there is no upper age limit. Debit works on cars marked "no credit card needed"; the others take a credit card.
For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Your deposit is held about 1 hour ahead of pickup and released after the return. We confirm each driver's licence and identity the same way.
How booking works
Send a request for the car and dates you have in mind. It is free and it commits you to nothing. A real person reviews your request and sends an offer with the price spelled out. If you approve, you pay and the car is yours for those dates.
Each car's calendar shows the days it is already booked. A week or more is priced at the weekly rate, from 7 days. We need at least 2 hours of notice before a pickup.

Can I rent a 1981 Ford Thunderbird in Toronto?
Not from our fleet right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile 6 similar cars are available below.
How old do I need to be to rent?
18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Drivers aged 18 to 20 pay a young driver fee of $35 a day, and 21 to 25 pay $20 a day.
How much is the deposit?
Between $500 and $5,000, depending on the car. It is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book, and the balance is released within 7 business days after you return the car.
What coverage do I need?
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer by car and driver age. At $2,500 or more we claim on our fleet policy and you pay the $2,500 deductible.
Can the car be delivered?
Yes, anywhere, including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Delivery starts at $75 plus the distance from our location, priced in your offer. Collecting the car yourself is free.
