Luup alternative: the 2012 Kia Optima
If you need a rental car, the 2012 Kia Optima is one option; this page explains the car and how booking works. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Reading the spec sheet
It uses the 2.4L 4-cylinder hybrid and front-wheel drive. It is a hybrid: the battery charges itself as you drive and brake, so there is nothing to plug in. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.
The combined figure, 6.5 L/100 km, means roughly 20 litres for 300 km. That works out to about $10.08 per 100 km at our price setting.
Practical details
Its car body is low and settled, with a separate trunk. In plain terms, its 283 litres of luggage space hold about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.
A good match for
Its low fuel use suits long commutes and high-kilometre weeks. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while.
Renting it
Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. We deliver around Toronto; pickup at our location is free.
Requesting a car
Start with a request. Choose the car, the pickup time and the return time, and send it without paying anything. Our reply is an offer that lists the rate, the kilometres included and any delivery fee. You pay when you approve, and only then.
Every car lists its own deposit and the kilometres included each day. Weekly pricing starts at 7 days, and a trip never costs more than that rate for a week. At least 2 hours must separate the request from the pickup.
Rules for renters
You need to be 18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. From 26, no age fee applies; below it, a daily young driver fee does. Bring the card in your name that paid for the booking.
Liability to others is in the rate. Damage to the car is handled by your policy (OPCF 27), your card's rental benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer. We hold the deposit shortly before pickup and release it after the return. We check every driver; it takes a few minutes and protects everyone.
