Luup alternative and the 2015 MINI Cooper
For a rental car, the 2015 MINI Cooper is one of many cars on CarmaCars, each with its own page. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Under the hood
Its 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo drives through a 6-speed manual. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.
By the EPA's combined rating of 7.3 L/100 km, 300 km takes about 22 litres. At our price setting, 1,000 km costs about $127.80.
Inside and out
It is a straightforward car to drive, park and live with. The trunk holds 255 litres by the EPA's count: about a large suitcase and a couple of soft bags.
Who rents the Cooper
It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else.
Renting it
A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. We deliver across the Toronto area, or you collect the car from our location for free.
The booking steps
Booking starts online: pick the car, set the times, and send the request at no cost. We answer with a written offer: the car, the dates, the price and the deposit. If you approve, you pay and the car is yours for those dates.
Each car's calendar shows the days it is already booked. A booking can be a single day or up to 365 days. The shortest notice we accept before a pickup is 2 hours.
Before pickup
An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. Drivers below 26 pay a fee each day of the rental, and older drivers pay none. Payment is by a card in your name, shown with your licence at pickup.
You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We hold the deposit shortly before pickup and release it after the return. We verify licences and identity for every renter, with no exceptions.
