The 2016 Nissan Leaf: Luup alternative
If you need a rental car, the 2016 Nissan Leaf is one option; this page explains the car and how booking works. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
What the figures tell you
The powertrain here is the electric motor with front-wheel drive and a 1-speed automatic. It is fully electric: no gas at all, and you return it with the charge it had at pickup. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.
At 18.5 kWh/100 km, a 300 km day uses roughly 56 kWh. A full charge is rated for 172 km; plan for less in the cold. At our price setting, 1,000 km costs about $27.80.
When the Leaf makes sense
It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.
Inside and out
A car body like this keeps the weight low, so it feels settled on the highway. The trunk holds 680 litres by the EPA's count: bulky luggage, a stroller or sports gear.

A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Delivery and pickup are both options across the Toronto area.
Getting the car booked
Pick the car and the dates that suit you, then send a request. There is no payment at that point. An offer follows, with the car we confirm and the full price for your dates. When you approve the offer and pay, the car is booked for you.
Every car has its own daily, weekend, weekly and monthly rate. A week or more is priced at the weekly rate, from 7 days. At least 2 hours must separate the request from the pickup.
Before pickup
Every driver must be 18 or older with an Ontario G2 or G licence. Under 26? You can rent, with a daily young driver fee shown on the car's page. Payment is by a card in your name, shown with your licence at pickup.
For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is taken shortly before pickup, and the balance comes back after the return. Each extra driver is checked the same way and signs the rental agreement.
