Luup alternative: the 2016 Subaru WRX

Here is the 2016 Subaru WRX, for anyone after a rental car. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.

Reading the spec sheet

The engine is the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo, with all-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

The EPA rates it at 10.2 L/100 km combined, so a 300 km weekend uses about 31 litres. The fuel for 100 km comes to about $17.85 at our price setting.

Who rents the WRX

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.

Inside and out

Being a compact car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. For luggage, 340 litres means about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Our WRX cars

Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Delivery to your door is available across the Toronto area.

From your dates to the handover

You ask for the car online with your dates, and you pay nothing to send it. Our reply is an offer that lists the rate, the kilometres included and any delivery fee. Offers stay open for 24 hours. Approve one and pay to book the car.

Each car shows its rate for a day, a weekend day, a week and a month. From 7 days, the weekly rate applies; up to 365 days, a trip never costs more than the monthly rate. Short notice is fine: 2 hours is the minimum before a pickup.

Requirements

An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. Drivers under 26 pay a young driver fee for each day, shown on each car's page. We check that the card and the licence carry the same name.

You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit is held for every rental, about 1 hour before you get the car. We confirm each driver's licence and identity the same way.

One more step

When you have your dates, send a request. It is free, and the offer shows the full price.
