Luup alternative and the 2016 Tesla Model X
Renting the 2016 Tesla Model X as a rental car works like any rental with us: a free request, an offer, then the keys. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
What the specs mean
The electric motor does the work, through a 1-speed automatic. Being electric, it is quiet and quick from a stop, and it charges at home, at work or at public chargers. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.
Energy use is rated at 23.1 kWh/100 km, about 69 kWh for 300 km. On paper it goes 465 km between charges, less in winter. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $3.47, and a 300 km weekend about $10.41.
When the Model X makes sense
Families, skiers and anyone with bulky luggage. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.
Inside and out
Being a full-size SUV, it handles luggage, strollers and sports gear well. Luggage space is 736 litres, enough for bulky luggage, a stroller or sports gear.
Getting one from us
Put this car and your dates in a request, and we reply with an offer. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. We deliver around Toronto; pickup at our location is free.
What to expect when you book
A short online request with the car and your times gets things moving, at no cost. A person replies with an offer priced for your dates, not an estimate. Say yes to the offer and pay; that is when the booking is made.
Every car has its own daily, weekend, weekly and monthly rate. From 7 days, the weekly rate takes over. With 2 hours of notice or more, a same-day pickup can work when the car is free.
What you need to rent
Ontario G2 or G licences are accepted, for drivers 18 and older. Age fees stop at 26: younger drivers pay a daily young driver fee. At pickup, have your original licence and the payment card ready.
The CarmaCars Protection Plan is one of three options for damage to the car; the others are OPCF 27 on your policy or a card with rental car benefits. The deposit is taken shortly before pickup, and the balance comes back after the return. We confirm each driver's licence and identity the same way.
