The AM General: Mechanic
Searching for mechanic for the AM General? CarmaCars does not do this work itself; we arrange it with a trusted shop. Routine maintenance and repairs are done by a mechanic at a shop we trust, not by CarmaCars.
Your car, your notes
Note the mileage on the odometer when you send the request. A photo of the dashboard warning light helps the shop prepare. Tell the shop about any warning light or sound you have noticed.
From request to repair
You approve the shop's quote before any work. You agree the price with the shop before any work starts. The repair is between you and the shop; the rental is with us.
Keep moving meanwhile
We collect the rental when your car is back. We can have a rental ready the day your car goes in. Pick it up from us for free, or have it brought to you.
Before the shop starts
Ask the shop to call you before doing anything not on the estimate. Ask what warranty the shop gives on its parts and labour. If you want to see the old parts, ask for them back.
Between shop visits
Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Look at the tire tread before long trips.
Make a request
A request is free and gets a reply within one business day.
Request mechanic
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
