Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. If the car must stay overnight, ask where it will be kept.
Small things that help
Listen for new noises and mention them to the shop with as much detail as you can. Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt. Keep a record of every service; it helps the shop and adds value when you sell.
