Specs, explained

Power: the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid; drive: all-wheel drive. It is a hybrid: the battery charges itself as you drive and brake, so there is nothing to plug in. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

Its combined rating is 8.3 L/100 km, which means roughly 25 litres for 300 km. For 1,000 km, budget about $128.70 at our price setting.

A good match for

It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. Its all-wheel drive suits winter roads and trips to ski country.

The A4 in everyday use

As a compact car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. EPA lists 340 litres of luggage space, enough for about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Renting it

What to have ready

Ontario G2 or G licence holders aged 18 and up can request a car. Drivers under 26 pay a young driver fee for each day, shown on each car's page. Debit works on cars marked "no credit card needed"; the others take a credit card.

If you have no auto policy and no card benefit, the CarmaCars Protection Plan is the third option, priced in your offer. A deposit applies to every rental. It is shown on the car's page and taken about 1 hour before pickup. A quick licence and identity check happens before we confirm any booking.

How booking works

Booking is by request, never instant. You send the car and the dates, and a person at CarmaCars reviews it. We answer with a written offer: the car, the dates, the price and the deposit. Your card is charged only when you approve the offer.

Each car has its own page with its photos, its rates and its calendar. Bookings run from one day up to 365 days at a time. Short notice is fine: 2 hours is the minimum before a pickup.
