Small things that help
Do not ignore a warning light; an early check often costs less than a late repair. Listen for new noises and mention them to the shop with as much detail as you can. Keep the fuel tank above a quarter in winter.
Talking to the shop
Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour. Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours. Ask whether anything else is close to needing attention, and how soon.
