BYD models
Thinking of buying the BYD?
We are a rental company, not a dealer, so there is no BYD for sale by us right now. Here is what to know about the BYD before buying one.
Recalls and complaints
Ask for the service records and check open recalls by the VIN. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose is money well spent. Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace.
Reading the spec sheet
No fuel-use rating is published for this model year, so we leave those figures out.
Is it right for your trip?
It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.
A longer test drive
Nothing is charged until we confirm the rental and you approve the offer. A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel. Load it with your things and park it where you park; then decide.
Running costs
Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models.
Choosing the right one
If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first. Start with the model, then compare its years; powertrains and trims change over time. Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary.
One more step
Ask us anything about renting before you buy.
Rent it for a week before you buy
A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel. Rent a BYD from us first.
Find me this car
Tell us your budget and when you want to buy; we look for a BYD for you and reply within one business day.
Buying the BYD
Does CarmaCars sell the BYD?
Not right now. CarmaCars rents cars; it sells one only now and then. Tell us what you want and we look for one, or rent one for a week first.
Can I rent a BYD before I buy one?
Yes. Request it for a week (or longer, up to 365 days) and drive it as your own; nothing is charged until we confirm and you approve.
Where do the figures come from?
Fuel use and fuel cost from the US EPA (fueleconomy.gov), dimensions and weight from NHTSA vPIC Canadian specifications, recalls and complaints from NHTSA. We leave out any figure no free source publishes.
