Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. If you want to see the old parts, ask for them back. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it.

Look at the tire tread before long trips. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter. Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt.
