Specs, explained

Its 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo drives through an 8-speed automatic. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

Fuel use is rated 7.8 L/100 km combined, so 300 km needs about 23 litres. That works out to about $12.09 per 100 km at our price setting.

The Escape in everyday use

Its SUV body gives a high seating position and an easy load height.

A good match for

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits winter trips and weekends with more gear than people.

Can I rent it?

This exact car is not in our fleet at the moment; a request asks us to look for one. Tell us your dates and we check this car or the closest match. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now.

How renting with us works

The process opens with a request from you, which costs nothing and binds you to nothing. A real person reviews your request and sends an offer with the price spelled out. Approve the offer to book the car. That is the moment you pay, not before.

Prices on each car's page are before tax, and the offer adds the tax. A rental of 7 days or longer is priced at the weekly rate. Book ahead if you can; 2 hours is the shortest notice we take.

Driver basics

At pickup you must be 18 or older and carry your original G2 or G licence. Drivers under 26 can rent with a young driver fee each day. The card must be in the driver's name, and we check it with the licence in person.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit applies to every rental. It is shown on the car's page and taken about 1 hour before pickup. Extra drivers are welcome; each one is checked and signs the agreement.

Next step

A request costs nothing, and the offer tells you everything.
