Renting for Java

Around Java you will also find Klinefelter, Ibis and Arrowhead Junction.

What the figures tell you

Power: the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo; drive: all-wheel drive. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. All-wheel drive sends power to all four wheels, which helps on snow and wet roads; good tires still matter most.

By the EPA's combined rating of 8.6 L/100 km, 300 km takes about 26 litres. At our price setting, it costs about $15.05 to drive 100 km.

When the A4 makes sense

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.

Practical details

Being a compact car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. For luggage, 368 litres means about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Before pickup

An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. A young driver fee applies each day for drivers under 26. A credit card in your name is needed, except on cars marked "no credit card needed", which take debit.

Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is released after the return, once the car is checked. Everyone who will drive signs the agreement after the licence check.

Request, offer, keys

First, a request: the car you like, when you need it, and where. No payment yet. You receive an offer with the price, the deposit and what is included. You decide: approve and pay, or let it go. No charge either way until you approve.

The calendar on each car's page helps you pick dates that work. Trips of 7 days or more use the weekly rate, and shorter trips never cost more than it. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.
