Van rental: the 2011 Lexus HS
If a van or a seven-seat car is the plan, the 2011 Lexus HS is worth a look; here is why. Seven seats or more take a whole group in one vehicle.
Reading the spec sheet
Power: the 2.4L 4-cylinder hybrid; drive: front-wheel drive. As a hybrid, it does best in stop-and-go traffic, where the electric motor does more of the work. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.
At 6.9 L/100 km combined, a 300 km drive takes roughly 21 litres of fuel. A 300 km round trip costs roughly $32.10 at our price setting.
Living with the HS
Its car body is low and settled, with a separate trunk. EPA lists 340 litres of luggage space, enough for about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.
When the HS makes sense
It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy.
Our HS cars
None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Ask for your dates, and we reply with what we can offer. We deliver across the Toronto area, or you collect the car from our location for free.
How a booking comes together
Send the request with your dates first; no money changes hands at that stage. We send the offer to your account and your email, with the total shown. The car is yours for those dates once you approve and pay the offer.
You can see every car's calendar and rates before you send anything. A week or more is priced at the weekly rate, from 7 days. With 2 hours of notice or more, a same-day pickup can work when the car is free.
What to have ready
Our minimum age is 18; an Ontario G2 or G licence is required. No maximum age, and a daily fee only for drivers under 26. A card in your name pays for the rental, and we see it with your licence at pickup.
Liability to other people is included in every rate. For the car itself, pick your own policy (OPCF 27), a card with rental car benefits, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit amount depends on the car and is shown on its page. Before confirming, we verify the licence and identity of each driver.
Your move
Ask for the car, read the offer, approve it if it suits you.
