Talking to the shop
Ask how the shop will contact you if it finds something unexpected. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it. Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up.
Between shop visits
Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt. Keep the spare, the jack and the wheel lock key where you can find them. If the car pulls to one side, ask the shop to check the alignment and the tires.
