Arranging the work for the WIA

Before the shop sees your WIA
The shop sets its own price and time after it sees the car. Say whether the car is drivable; it changes how it gets to the shop. The shop may ask for the VIN to order the right parts.

Between shop visits
Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter. Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt.
Getting a clear quote
Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours. Ask how the shop will contact you if it finds something unexpected. Ask for a written estimate before any work starts.
