Clear snow off the whole car, roof included, before you drive. Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter.
Talking to the shop
Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour. Ask the shop to call you before doing anything not on the estimate. Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. Ask whether anything else is close to needing attention, and how soon.
