What to ask
Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. Ask for the work to be listed line by line on the invoice. Ask how the shop will contact you if it finds something unexpected. Ask what warranty the shop gives on its parts and labour.
Small things that help
Clear snow off the whole car, roof included, before you drive. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Do not ignore a warning light; an early check often costs less than a late repair.
