We do not do mechanical work, and we work in the Toronto area, far from Maple Leaf. The job: An oil and filter change, done by a trusted shop we arrange, not by CarmaCars. Engine oil and its filter are changed on the schedule in your owner's manual, by distance or by time.

From request to repair

If the car cannot be driven, say so, and we arrange the next step with the shop. If you already have a shop you trust, we can still rent you a car meanwhile. We keep you posted until the shop has the car booked in. Mention any warning lights or sounds; it helps the shop prepare.

What to ask

Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it. Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours.

Between shop visits

Listen for new noises and mention them to the shop with as much detail as you can. Replace wiper blades when they streak; it matters in rain and snow. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter.
