Buying a car in Alberta

CarmaCars rents cars and does not sell, lend or lease, but renting first is a smart step before buying. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank.

Why rent first

If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class. Testing the car for a week shows how it handles your parking, your passengers and your bags. A week of normal life with the car is the best test drive there is.

Questions to ask

Read the contract before you sign, and ask about every fee you do not understand. Find out whether the car has open recalls before you agree on a price. Look at real fuel use for the model, not only the advertised figure. Ask how many owners the car has had and how it was used.

Before your next car arrives

Weekly and monthly rates make a rental a sensible bridge between cars. A rental means you never have to rush a purchase because you need wheels. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives.

Where CarmaCars works

There is no CarmaCars location in Alberta; everything we do starts in Toronto. We cover about 250 km around Toronto; at about 1,340 km, Alberta is outside that.

If you are in the Toronto area before you shop, rent the model from us there. For buying in Alberta, local dealers and private sellers are where to look. Ask us about Alberta in a request; a person answers honestly. Rates are shown in Canadian dollars.

Next step

A week with the car can save a costly mistake: request it now.
