Shopping for a car in Van

CarmaCars is a rental company, so we do not sell cars; renting one first is how we help buyers. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank.

Why rent first

Bring the car seat, the hockey bag or the dog, and see if it all fits. Try the car with the people who will ride in it most. Take the car home, load it with your things, park it where you park, and then decide.

Before you sign

Compare the total cost, not only the monthly payment: interest, fees and insurance add up. Drive the car on the roads you use every day, at the times you usually drive. Check open recalls with Transport Canada or the maker, using the VIN. Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches.

While you shop

Between selling and buying, a weekly rental keeps the commute normal. Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it. Renting while you shop lets you compare cars without pressure.
