Car Financing: what CarmaCars does
CarmaCars is not where you buy a car, but it can be where you try one first. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out.
Why rent first
Renting first means you buy knowing the car, not guessing. A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel. Renting the model you are thinking of buying, for a day or a week, is a real test drive on your own roads.
What to check before you buy
Ask your insurer for a quote on the exact model before you commit. Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town. In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package.
Before your next car arrives
If the purchase falls through, you still have a car to drive. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. A monthly rental keeps life moving while your financing is sorted out elsewhere.
