    Recalls and complaints

    The figures, translated

It is powered by the 2.0L 4-cylinder, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

At 6.6 L/100 km combined, a 300 km drive takes roughly 20 litres of fuel. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $10.23, and a 300 km weekend about $30.69. At US fuel prices, the EPA estimates US$1,900 a year for 15,000 miles.

    A good match for

It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy. It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else.

    What the Corolla is like

A car body like this keeps the weight low, so it feels settled on the highway. For luggage, 510 litres means a family's bags for a long weekend.

    Try before you buy

Renting first costs a fraction of the price of buying the wrong car. Rent the Corolla first, and buy only if it fits your life. Rent it, live with it for a week, and decide with real experience.

    Year and trim

Look at a few listings of the same year and trim to get a feel for fair prices. Compare the SE with the other trims of the same year before you decide. Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary.

    The cost of driving it

At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.23 in fuel. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $102.30 at our price setting. Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models.
