Trade In: what CarmaCars does

To be upfront: CarmaCars is a rental company and does not sell cars or arrange loans. We do not buy cars or take trade-ins. If you would rather keep your car and have it earn, our owner program rents it out for you. Selling a car can take weeks; a weekly rental means you do not have to keep it until it sells.

Why rent first

If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class. Take the car home, load it with your things, park it where you park, and then decide. You can rent for a week, or up to 365 days, and nothing is charged until we confirm and you approve.

What to check before you buy

Check the date on the tires and the condition of the brakes. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. Find out whether the car has open recalls before you agree on a price. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN.

A car meanwhile

A rental can carry you through the paperwork of a private sale. There is no long contract, so a rental fits around any purchase date. You can switch to a different car at the end of a booking, which helps if you are comparing.

Honest about Hackney

CarmaCars operates from a single location in Toronto, so Hackney is outside our area. At roughly 486 km from central Toronto in a straight line, Hackney is outside our delivery area.

Our rentals start and end around Toronto; a test week has to begin there. Shopping in Hackney? A rental from Toronto only makes sense if your trip starts here. Send a request with what you need in Hackney, and we reply plainly, even when the answer is no. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
