Engine and fuel

The 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid with all-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. As a hybrid, it does best in stop-and-go traffic, where the electric motor does more of the work. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

Rules for renters

An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more are the starting point. Age fees stop at 26: younger drivers pay a daily young driver fee. Your licence and the card you paid with come with you to the pickup.

Damage to the car is handled one of three ways: OPCF 27 on your policy, a credit card's rental car benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Expect a deposit before every rental; its amount is set by the car. Extra drivers are welcome; each one is checked and signs the agreement.
